Blogging
I’m not narcissistic enough to blog…oh wait, I guess I am! If the voices in my head amuse me, will that translate to my blog? And what if I’m not schizophrenic but my second personality just keeps the first one company and gives it someone to talk to? Will blogging eliminate the need for persona number 2? This would be disappointing because she’s the fun one!
So I’ve decided my first blog is going to be about blogging. Ironic, no? Well more specifically, blogging, twittering, Facebook status updating and the self-indulgence that goes hand in hand with the need to update the world on what you are currently wearing, grooming, eating or achieving. Unfortunately the latter is dangerously scarce.
Blogging basically says, what I have to say is so important that everyone needs to hear it and when I’m done then you may resume speaking. Unfortunately being virtually active is necessary to staying relevant. Particularly for those of us interested in a creative career. So here goes…
What is important enough to share with the world?
Graduation
An ugly word that means the safe haven of the school hallways are spitting you out into the real world to fend for yourself. After being coddled and owing nothing to anyone but yourself (and potentially those funding your tuition -- who am I kidding? you can make it up to them later!) it is time to grow up and make responsible life choices that will enable you to enter an endless cycle of earning and paying. Blah... What happened to staying in school? I keep going back, most recently for a grad degree, and they keep handing me degrees and showing me the door no matter how little effort I put in…kidding…well except that bit about graduation…that I am vehemently against!
Being a Grown-Up
Being in my mid-twenties places me firmly in adult hood, an ugly term I was avoiding till now, but that has snuck up on me and accosted as only a true rapist can. What does this mean? The ugly realization that a happy childhood leads to a disappointing post-college life, college loans to pay-off, and the sinking feeling that a career should be sought out and accomplished…
Directionless
As is typical for me, I start out with a direction in mind, get distracted and end up where I least expected. So shall proceed this blog…
